Providing Chicago teens a passport to the arts
Karine Hoffman - Keeping the arts alive in Chicago!! A Project of Urban Gateways
As someone who was fortunate to grow up having dance as an outlet, I'm a huge believer in ensuring the youth in our communities have access to the arts for self-expression and stability in their lives. Urban Gateways was founded in Chicago back in 1961 with this mission - to educate and inspire young people by delivering high-quality, accessible arts experiences. For over 70,000 participants in the Chicago area, Urban Gateways delivers arts programs led by experienced professional artists in music, dance, theater, literary arts, visual arts, and digital media to engage youth in grades pre-K through 12, their teachers, families, and communities.
This month, I'm helping Urban Gateways raise money for their $5 Teen Ticket Initiative. This initiative provides ALL Chicago teens, regardless of neighborhood or economic status, the ability to purchase day-of-show tickets to music venues, theaters, and other cultural institutions for only $5 - providing them essentially a passport to experience the arts in the Chicago area!
I'm setting a goal of $300 for this fundraiser, and am hoping to get your support! Please reach out with any questions about the organization - and thank you in advance for donating to a cause that's very close to my heart!
